Clarence was born in Waipawa in 1965. He is of Ngati Porou and Te Ai Tanga a Mahaki descent. He moved around New Zealand with his family living in Wairoa, Wellington and Greymouth. He now lives in Petone, with his family.

Since the late 1990’s Clarence has been experimenting and studying aspects of the arts. This includes; cast glass, bronze and screen printing. He currently creates oil paintings, sculptures and pounamu carvings. His formal art education is well complimented by his self-taught skills. He is a full time artist working from his studio in Petone.

Clarence is a lifelong learner and creator of the Arts. His passion is for creating unique and original work that represents the many life experiences he has had. A love of his is a korero with others and then creating a personal piece that reflects or represents their story.

He has had a number of exhibitions and presently sells his work in galleries around New Zealand.
